The vampire survival game V Rising has been in early access for a couple of years, and developers Stunlock have announced that the price will be permanently raised from $19.99 to $34.99 on April 5th. They defended this decision by highlighting the amount of content and development that has been put into the game over the years. Stunlock emphasized that after five years of development and two years in early access, the price increase reflects the game’s full value.

Despite its unfinished state, V Rising has received positive feedback for its enjoyable combination of crafting, survival, and exploration mechanics. Since its early access launch, the game has undergone significant updates, including reworked magic, new areas inspired by non-vampiric creatures, and an expanded bestiary of enemies and bosses. The upcoming 1.0 update, scheduled for May 5th, promises further tweaks to endgame PvP, revamped armor and gear for improved class specialization, and enhancements to visuals and performance.

Stunlock has assured players that the release of version 1.0 does not mark the end of updates for V Rising. They plan to continue working on new features and additions as long as the game maintains its popularity. With the upcoming 1.0 update set to introduce even more content, including a Castlevania crossover at launch, Stunlock is confident that players will still find the game worth the increased price. However, players who purchase or already own V Rising before April 5th will still pay the original price, and the cost of DLC packs will not be affected by the price hike.

The price increase for V Rising may come as a surprise to some players, but the developers have provided valid reasons for the change. With ongoing development and exciting updates on the horizon, the game continues to offer a rich gameplay experience for fans of survival and exploration games. Whether the increased price is justified ultimately depends on each player’s assessment of the game’s current content and future potential.
