GingasVR, a popular SkyrimVR and FalloutVR streamer, has once again taken virtual reality to new extremes. Known for previously spending $15,000 on creating an immersive VR setup, GingasVR has upgraded her rig with a second haptic suit that converts in-game damage into real-life pain.

GingasVR’s VR setup is nothing short of extraordinary. Using mods to enhance item physics and body movements, along with three Vive trackers for accurate motion tracking, she has created a truly immersive experience for her viewers. Fans that match Skyrim’s weather patterns provide realistic airflow sensations, while a haptic vest adds tactile feedback for in-game actions like eating food.

A New Level of Realism

The recent upgrade to GingasVR’s setup introduces a “haptic feedback device that produces real pain in VR using electrodes that go directly on your skin.” This device delivers electric shocks depending on the in-game events, such as being set on fire by a dragon. The addition of a second haptic suit provides vibrations for other sensations, enhancing the overall immersive experience.

To further enhance the simulation, GingasVR has incorporated fans to simulate temperature changes, making intense battles feel even more realistic. However, the inclusion of an “OpenAI NPC” with questionable dialogue slightly breaks the immersion, with lines like “jumping off cliffs is the best way to test your pain tolerance.”

Three years ago, in an interview, GingasVR described her tech as a “complete revolution in the way in which we communicate with each other.” By continuously pushing the boundaries of what is possible in virtual reality, she is setting a new standard for immersive gaming experiences that blur the line between reality and the digital world.
