Nintendo has recently expanded its Nintendo Switch Online service by adding three iconic Game Boy titles to its library. Among these new additions, players can now enjoy the classic Super Mario Land, Alleyway, and Baseball. Super Mario Land, in particular, stands out as a beloved title that marks a deviation from the traditional Super Mario series, as it was not developed by Shigeru Miyamoto. Instead, players can immerse themselves in Mario’s adventure through Sarasaland to rescue Princess Daisy from the alien threat of Tatanga.

Each of the three newly added Game Boy games offers a unique gaming experience. Alleyway, a Breakout-style game, challenges players to use precise maneuvers to deflect a ball and break through grids. On the other hand, Baseball provides a straightforward sports game experience with the added feature of two-player support. This diverse selection of games caters to a range of preferences and offers something for every type of player.

Cost and Membership Options

To access the Game Boy library and other benefits of the Nintendo Switch Online service, players can choose from various subscription options. Individual memberships are priced at $4 USD for one month, $8 USD for three months, and $20 USD for a year-long subscription. For families with multiple Nintendo Accounts, an annual family plan is available for $35 USD and covers up to eight accounts across different systems. Additionally, Nintendo offers an “Expansion Pack” tier that includes perks like access to Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Advance games, Sega Genesis titles, and exclusive Nintendo Switch DLC.

In recent months, Nintendo has expanded its offerings for Expansion Pack subscribers by adding new Nintendo 64 games, as well as the Game Boy Advance title F-Zero: Maximum Velocity. Looking ahead, Nintendo has announced the upcoming broadcast of a new Nintendo Direct in June. However, fans may be disappointed to learn that company president Shuntaro Furukawa has confirmed that the broadcast will not feature any news about the highly anticipated successor to the Nintendo Switch. Despite this, the continued expansion of the Nintendo Switch Online service with classic titles like the newly added Game Boy games demonstrates Nintendo’s commitment to providing a diverse and engaging gaming experience for players.
