The developers of the haunting 2D adventure game Norco are back with a new project, Silenus, where music and dancing take center stage. Unlike Norco’s Southern gothic vibes, Silenus immerses players in techno industrial atmospheres with a touch of gothic elements. The game promises to unravel the secrets of an oil refinery operated by a mysterious organization through a short narrative adventure.

Players will have the opportunity to bop their way through screens in the demo, titled the ‘Umbilical Pre-Release Demo’. This unique name is not merely a creative choice but a reference to the album Umbilical by contributors Thou, who also worked on Norco’s soundtrack. By playing the demo, players can unlock the entire album to listen to in-game, enhancing the overall experience.

In Silenus, players assume the role of Titian, an android belonging to Rubens Link, the enigmatic company that has taken control of the Gulf Flow oil refinery. As Titian, players will explore the refinery’s machinery, tank farms, and offices while deciphering clues from computer logs, journals, and the remnants of vanished workers. The game offers puzzles to solve, unique characters to interact with, and captivating soundscapes created by FmAura & Gewgawly I.

While Norco was a 2D adventure game set in South Louisiana, Silenus takes a different approach by offering a 3D visual experience. This artistic shift demonstrates Geography of Robots’ willingness to explore new creative directions and not limit themselves to a specific style or genre. The game is still in its early stages of development, allowing players to enjoy Norco while eagerly anticipating what Silenus has to offer.

As a fan of Norco’s haunting and atmospheric storytelling, I am excited to see how Silenus unfolds with its focus on music and dancing. The unique blend of narrative elements, immersive gameplay, and engaging puzzles sets the stage for an intriguing adventure. With Silenus still in the early stages of development, there is plenty of room to explore and enjoy Norco’s world while waiting for the release of this exciting new project.
