Wildermyth, the turn-based tactical RPG, has recently released its second DLC, Omenroad, which transformed the game into a roguelike. However, despite its success, Worldwalker Games, the team behind Wildermyth, has announced that active development on the game has come to an end. The team will now focus on providing support for the game and fixing critical bugs, with no new content planned for the future.

In a statement, Nate Austin, the co-owner of Worldwalker Games, revealed that the studio will be going into hibernation. This decision was not influenced by Omenroad’s sales performance, which has been described as “doing quite well.” Instead, Austin explained that they are hibernating because they are ready to move on from the Wildermyth project. Despite this, Austin hinted that this might not be the end of Worldwalker Games forever, as they may find another project to work on in the future.

According to Austin, the team will take some time to explore new opportunities and ideas before committing to a new project. He emphasized that they are not interested in making a Wildermyth sequel after dedicating 11 years to the original game. The team’s approach to finding a new project involves venturing into uncharted territory, away from their comfort zones, to discover their next creative endeavor.

In 2022, the team at Worldwalker Games shared insights into the eleven-year development process of Wildermyth, shedding light on the challenges and successes they experienced along the way. The journey of creating Wildermyth has been a transformative one for the team, shaping their approach to game development and cementing their legacy in the gaming industry.

The announcement of Worldwalker Games going into hibernation marks the end of an era for Wildermyth and its dedicated fanbase. While the future remains uncertain, the team’s commitment to creativity and innovation ensures that their next project will be as groundbreaking as their previous endeavors.
