Today, alongside the release of Octopath Traveler II on Xbox and Game Pass, Square Enix has introduced a new update for the RPG game. This update brings a new mode called ‘Extra Battles’, which unlocks after defeating the final boss in the game. Not only does it provide players with tougher opponents to test their skills against, but it also includes characters from the first Octopath Traveler game.
What’s Included in the Update?
Some of the key features of this update include changes to the Title Screen, such as the addition of the new mode: Extra Battles. This mode becomes accessible after completing the main story. The patch notes on Steam also mention edits to the credits, various graphics, and the implementation of new tutorial text for the update additions.
In addition to the update, a new bundle has been made available for purchase. This bundle includes both Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II, offering players a convenient way to enjoy both games. For those who prefer, the games can still be purchased individually.
Octopath Traveler II originally launched on the Switch in February last year, receiving critical acclaim as a “confident and triumphant follow-up” to its predecessor. It has been well-received, with a review awarding it nine out of ten stars. Square Enix has also announced the release of the original Octopath Traveler on PlayStation 5 and 4 today. The company shared that the game has sold over four million copies worldwide.
