The most recent Nintendo Direct presentation was packed with exciting announcements, particularly in relation to upcoming games from beloved franchises like Mario, Metroid, and Zelda. One of the highlights was the unveiling of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, a brand new top-down adventure game featuring Zelda as the protagonist, set to be released on September 26.

To celebrate the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Nintendo has also revealed a special-edition Switch Lite console that will be available on the same day. This unique version of the Switch Lite features a stunning Hyrule Edition design, with a golden color scheme, black buttons and analog sticks, and the iconic Hylian Crest on the back. Additionally, there is a tiny Triforce symbol located below the right analog stick on the front of the console.

Apart from its eye-catching new design, the Hyrule Edition Switch Lite offers the same specifications as a standard Switch Lite. This includes a 5.5-inch LCD touchscreen display, 32GB of storage, and a battery life of up to seven hours. It’s important to note that the Switch Lite is solely a handheld device and cannot be connected to a TV for gameplay. However, it is compatible with almost all of the games available on the regular Switch and OLED models.

In addition to the exclusive design, the Hyrule Edition Switch Lite comes bundled with a 12-month individual Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership. This membership grants players access to a wide variety of classic games from consoles such as Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, NES, SNES, and the Game Boy family. Furthermore, online multiplayer and cloud save features are included in the membership benefits. Recently added to the library is Zelda: Four Swords, along with other beloved Zelda titles.

This isn’t the first time Nintendo has released a Zelda-themed Switch console. In 2023, a special-edition Switch OLED console was launched in anticipation of Tears of the Kingdom. The Zelda-themed Switch OLED features golden Joy-Con controllers, a gold-accented design on the back panel, and a white Switch dock showcasing the Triforce emblem. Interestingly, the Japanese version of this console can be purchased for a discounted price of $294 at Walmart and is fully compatible with North American games.

For fans looking to catch up on previous Zelda titles, Walmart currently offers a $20 discount on The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening for the Switch. Additionally, there are several other Zelda games available at discounted prices for the Switch platform, providing an opportunity for players to explore the rich history of the franchise at a lower cost.
