Digital Extremes has once again captured the attention of Warframe fans with the debut of a new gameplay trailer during Tennocon 2024. This time, the focus is on Warframe: 1999, a narrative-driven spin-off quest that takes players back to the late 1990s. The trailer showcases a unique blend of nostalgia and futuristic gameplay, set in a deserted shopping mall filled with old computers and arcade machines.

In Warframe: 1999, players will take on the role of Arthur, the leader of a team of Protoframes. Together with characters like Amir, Aoi, and Quincy, players will pursue Dr. Entrati, a key figure in the Warframe universe. The trailer reveals exciting new weapons like the AX-52 rifle, as well as the introduction of the Atomicycle vehicle. However, the highlight of the trailer is a high-octane boss fight against an enemy that infects players with an earworm, adding a new level of challenge to the game.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the trailer is the introduction of Technocyte Coda, an Infested variation of an in-universe boy band known as On-lyne. This creative twist adds a fun and unexpected element to the game, giving players a glimpse into the quirky world of Warframe: 1999. In addition to this new content, players can look forward to new Ember and Rhino Heirloom skins, as well as a new questline titled The Lotus Eaters.

Digital Extremes is also expanding the Warframe universe with an anime short created in collaboration with London-based art studio The Line. This exciting partnership promises to bring even more depth and storytelling to the game, appealing to both longtime fans and newcomers alike. With Warframe available on multiple platforms including Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC, players from all walks of life can experience the thrill of this action-packed universe.
