Recently, former WWE star Kevin Nash made comments about his replacement in the new film Deadpool & Wolverine. Nash expressed his dissatisfaction with the casting choice, claiming that the new performer did not resemble the character he played in The Punisher back in 2004. He even went as far as to suggest that the casting was a favor rather than a well-thought-out decision.

In response to Nash’s criticisms, the actor in question, Billy Clements, took to Instagram to defend his performance. Clements revealed the amount of effort and dedication he put into landing the role, highlighting that he had trained for seven years and worked his way up from being an extra. He emphasized how much it meant to him to portray a genuine Marvel character and how hard he worked to make the role his own.

Clements went on to explain that he had put on 32 pounds of muscle and studied Russian for three months to prepare for the role. He also showed admiration for Nash’s portrayal of the character and expressed his gratitude towards Ryan Reynolds, Kevin Feige, and director Shawn Levy for giving him the opportunity to audition and ultimately cast him in the role.

Throughout his response, Clements made it clear that he was familiar with the character as it appeared in the Punisher comics. He understood the importance of staying true to the source material while also bringing his own interpretation to the role. By acknowledging Nash’s portrayal and the comic book origins of the character, Clements demonstrated his respect for the legacy of the character he was portraying.

While Nash may have had reservations about the casting choice for the character he previously portrayed, Clements’ response shed light on the amount of dedication and hard work that went into bringing the character to life on the big screen. It serves as a reminder that actors put in a significant amount of effort to embody these iconic roles and deserve recognition for their commitment to the craft. Deadpool & Wolverine continues to captivate audiences with its nods to the Marvel universe, showcasing both new and familiar faces in the superhero genre.
