Blizzard, the developer of Diablo 4, recently made a unique and somewhat controversial donation on behalf of Duriel the Maggot King. The company announced that they would be donating 30 million maggots to a UK-based charity called Twiggywinkles. This charity focuses on treating and rehabilitating birds, and the donation was made in honor of Earth Day.

The donation event organized by Blizzard involved a social media post where they stated that for every 25 likes the post received, they would donate 45,000 maggots to Twiggywinkles. The event had a time limit until April 22 at 11:59 PDT, and the maximum donation cap was set at 666 buckets of maggots.

The response to Blizzard’s post was overwhelming, with people liking the post in large numbers. The charity quickly reached and surpassed the initial target of 30 million maggots. According to reports, this amount of maggots will be able to feed the animals at Twiggywinkles for a period of two years, which is quite remarkable.

While the donation was a generous act by Blizzard, there were discussions on social media about the cost involved. A Twitter user estimated that each like on the post would have cost Blizzard around $1, resulting in a total donation cost of around $19 thousand dollars. Despite the cost, Blizzard seemed content with the impact their donation would have on the wildlife being cared for by Twiggywinkles.

While the idea of donating maggots may seem unusual, the intention behind Blizzard’s donation was positive and aimed at supporting a charitable cause. The donation event managed to bring attention to the importance of wildlife rehabilitation and the initiatives taken by organizations like Twiggywinkles. Overall, it’s heartening to see companies like Blizzard using their platform for social good, even if it involves sacrificial offerings from the Maggot King.
