Vigor, a free-to-play survival shooter developed by Bohemia Interactive, takes players into a ruined Norway in an alternate nineties. The wasteland world of the Outlands is now populated by groups of survivors, known as Outlanders, who are associated with various military and non-military factions. In this post-apocalyptic setting, players can choose to go solo, team up with a friend, or form larger groups to compete against their adversaries.

The game offers multiple modes, including Shootout deathmatches, five-on-five team Elimination battles, and Loot Events where players must collect and extract resources. By succeeding in these encounters, players can gather resources to upgrade their shelter. By improving their wooden safehouse with cosmetics and utilities, players can craft better weapons and gather additional materials, contributing to a classic survival-crafting gameplay loop.

Transition from Consoles to PC

After being available on Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch for over half a decade, Vigor is finally making its way to PC. Bohemia Interactive will launch the game into early access on Steam next month. Players interested in joining before the full release can purchase a Reinforcements Pack for $20, which includes early access, bonus weapons, exclusive cosmetics, consumable items, and more. The early access phase is expected to last around three months, with progress being reset once the game officially launches.

The Importance of Early Access for Bohemia Interactive

Bohemia Interactive emphasized the significance of receiving early feedback from players to refine the game before its full free-to-play release. The development team initially designed Vigor for console platforms, and adapting it for PC presented substantial challenges. Early Access provides an opportunity to address any issues and improve the overall gameplay experience before the official launch.

One of the most requested features for Vigor was an overhaul of the game’s gunplay mechanics. Bohemia Interactive plans to test the updated gunplay system as part of the PC version during the early access phase. The development team aims to implement improvements based on player feedback and deliver a more refined gameplay experience for the PC audience.

Final Thoughts on Vigor’s PC Release

Vigor’s arrival on PC has been long-awaited by fans who have been eager to explore the game on their preferred platform. The early access release on Steam in May marks a significant milestone for Bohemia Interactive as they expand the game’s reach to a new audience. With the promise of cross-play functionality and continued updates, Vigor’s transition to PC is poised to be a successful endeavor for the developers and players alike.
