Nintendo recently announced that they will be discontinuing the integration between the Nintendo Switch and Twitter on June 10. This decision will have an impact on how players are able to share their gaming experiences on social media platforms.

Specific games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Splatoon 2, and the upcoming Splatoon 3 will be affected by these changes. In Super Smash Bros., the ability to post from the Switch’s album to Smash World through the Nintendo Switch Online smart device app will be removed. Similarly, in Splatoon 2, players will no longer have the option to post to Twitter from the mailbox in Inkopolis Square. Moreover, characters and posts in Inkopolis Square will now be replaced by pre-prepared data within the game’s software.

Splatoon 3 players will also see alterations in how they can share content. The feature that allowed posting from the mailbox in Splatsville and Inkopolis Plaza will no longer be available. Instead, data from Splatoon 3 will be directly sent to Nintendo servers, eliminating the need for a social media account to make posts.

Although players will still have the option to share screenshots and videos on Facebook, there is a possibility that this feature may also be discontinued in the future. Nintendo has not provided a specific timeline for when this might happen, so players should be prepared for potential changes in this aspect as well.

In addition to the changes in social media integration, Nintendo is also removing the ability to send friend requests on social media from within the friend suggestions feature on the Switch. However, this feature will still be accessible through Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, despite their online services being shut down last month.

These changes in the integration between Nintendo Switch and Twitter will have a significant impact on how players share their gaming experiences online. Players will need to adapt to new ways of posting and interacting with others in their favorite games.
