Netflix has recently announced a new addition to its lineup of live events – Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef. This event is scheduled to take place on September 2nd and is set to be a highly anticipated showdown between two legendary competitive eaters.

The rivalry between Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi is one that has captivated audiences for years. In a press release from Netflix, Kobayashi is quoted as saying, “Retiring for me will only happen after I take him down one last time… Competing against Joey live on Netflix means fans all over the world can watch me knock him out.” Chestnut, on the other hand, seems confident and ready for the challenge, stating, “It’s time to give the people what they want!”
The Controversy
Both competitors will have to skip the annual July 4th Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest to participate in this event. Kobayashi was banned from the contest in 2010 due to a contract dispute, while Chestnut faced a ban from Major League Eating in June 11th over a deal with Impossible Foods. This adds an extra layer of intrigue to the upcoming competition.
With this live event, Netflix is venturing into new territory and expanding its offering beyond just TV shows and movies.
