The battle with Galerius, the main antagonist in Unicorn Overlord, presents a significant challenge to players due to his unique abilities and high resistance to physical attacks. At level 10 with over 150 HP, Galerius possesses the ability to bring every member of the attacking unit down to 1 HP with each turn, making it crucial to plan your strategy carefully. Additionally, his armor negates the first two attacks he receives, and he is highly resistant to physical damage, limiting the effectiveness of most attackers to 15 or less. Galerius is also accompanied by two knights in a garrison, who respawn whenever the garrison completes a heal, adding an extra layer of difficulty to the fight.
Unit Composition and Strategy
To successfully defeat Galerius, players need to carefully consider their unit composition and strategy. The first unit required for this battle is a combination of a thief and a magic-wielding fighter, such as the Witch and Shaman. While the thief is part of the main story prior to the fight, players will need to complete side quests to find the magic wielders. The Witch can be located in the swamps in the southwest part of Cornia in Lebouge Hamlet, while the Shaman can be found in the southeast near Fort Lonteria.
Position the thief on the front line to take advantage of their Evade ability, which allows them to dodge at least one attack. The thief’s double attack also helps bypass Galerius’ buff that nullifies two attacks. Place the magic users behind the thief to avoid being targeted. For additional magic users, players can hire one at a conquered garrison on the overworld map.
The second unit does not need to be as specific, but it should consist of high damage dealers to take down the two extra knights that accompany Galerius. As all units will likely be moving towards Galerius in the level, players can swap them around depending on the situation. When engaging Galerius, send in another unit to eliminate the additional knights before swapping in the thief-led unit.
Executing the Battle
During the battle with Galerius, players may need to make several attempts before achieving victory, depending on the level of their magic users. If the two knights are revived, switch to a different unit to take them out before returning to attack Galerius. When the thief unit is reduced to 1 HP, make sure they will not take any damage before starting the next round of fighting. If they are at risk, send in another unit to continue the battle.
Defeating Galerius in Unicorn Overlord requires careful planning, unit composition, and strategic decision-making. By utilizing a thief and magic-wielding fighters, along with high damage dealers, players can overcome the challenges posed by Galerius and emerge victorious in this intense boss battle.
