Devolver Digital is known for its unconventional and unique approach to keynote events, and their presence at Summer Game Fest 2024 was no exception. Instead of overwhelming the audience with a plethora of announcements, they chose to focus on just a handful of truly interesting indie games. This decision allowed each game to shine and capture the attention of viewers in a more meaningful way.

One of the standout games showcased during the event was “Possessor”, a slick side-scrolling action game from the creators of Solar Ash and the Hyper Light games. The game’s visuals were absolutely stunning, and it promised to offer players a challenging experience. In “Possessor”, players take on the roles of Luca and Rehm as they navigate a quarantined city devastated by an interdimensional catastrophe, with their survival dependent on their ability to work together.

Another noteworthy title presented was “Tenjutsu” by Deepnight Games, a new one-person studio led by Sébastien Benard. Known for his work on Dead Cells, Benard’s new game puts players in the shoes of a renegade yakuza navigating the criminal underworld. The game combines pixel art visuals with fast-paced action, ensuring an adrenaline-fueled gaming experience. With a planned release in 202X, “Tenjutsu” is set to make waves in the indie gaming scene.

For fans of quirky and action-packed games, “Thirst Person Kicker” offers a unique gaming experience. This first-person shooter incorporates kicking mechanics and sneaker collecting, adding a humorous twist to the traditional shooter genre. Developed by Free Lives, the studio behind Broforce and Cricket Through the Ages, “Thirst Person Kicker” promises to deliver a blend of silliness and violence that will keep players entertained.

“The Crush House” introduces a refreshing concept for a strategy game, immersing players in the world of reality TV production circa 1999. While the game initially seems light-hearted, there are hints of darker mysteries lurking beneath the surface. Developed by Nerial, known for the Reigns series, “The Crush House” is sure to offer a compelling narrative experience that keeps players on the edge of their seats.

In addition to showcasing upcoming indie titles, Devolver Digital also treated fans to new content for two of its popular games. “Cult of the Lamb” will receive its “Unholy Alliance” expansion on August 12th, offering players new quests, gear, and items. The highlight of this update is the addition of a co-op mode, allowing players to experience the quirky cult simulator with a friend.

On June 14th, fans of cerebral puzzlers can look forward to “The Talos Principle 2” receiving its “Road to Elysium” expansion. This expansion introduces a host of new challenges across three chapters, each with its own unique look and storyline. With these updates, Devolver Digital continues to provide engaging content for players to enjoy.

Devolver Digital’s showcase at Summer Game Fest 2024 was a testament to the publisher’s commitment to highlighting innovative indie games and providing exciting updates for existing titles. With a diverse lineup of games that cater to a wide range of preferences, Devolver Digital remains a driving force in the indie gaming industry.
