Game creator Eric Barone, also known as ConcernedApe, announced on Twitter that improvements to weapon swings will make melee attacks easier while exploring caverns. Barone explained that the upgrade was inspired by his work on Haunted Chocolatier and the desire to prioritize game feel over precise visual accuracy.
Changes to Weapon Mechanics
One of the key changes in Update 1.6 is the adjustment to weapon swings in Stardew Valley. Barone acknowledged that downward sword swings had previously put players at a disadvantage, but this will no longer be the case in the upcoming update. The upgrade will apply to all weapons in the game, such as clubs and daggers, providing players with a more balanced combat experience.
While the focus of Update 1.6 is on combat improvements, Stardew Valley players can also look forward to enhancements in other areas. Tools like the scythe will now harvest at the same speed in both directions, making farming tasks more efficient.
