Capcom recently announced that their dinosaur shooter game, Exoprimal, will be entering a seasonal rotation mode starting from mid-July 2024. This decision comes after all planned seasons for the game have concluded. In an update to the players, Capcom expressed their gratitude for the support shown towards Exoprimal and confirmed that the upcoming fourth season will mark the end of the game’s seasonal cycles.

Following the conclusion of the current season on 11 July, Exoprimal will begin its first season again, with each month featuring a past season on a rotating basis. Players who may have missed out on Season Passes for the first three chapters will have another opportunity to purchase them. Additionally, player progression from previous seasons will be carried over, allowing players to pick up where they left off.

Despite the shift to a seasonal rotation model, Capcom has assured players that Exoprimal will continue to be supported, and online services will remain available for the foreseeable future. While certain modes like Savage Gauntlet may see tweaks, they will all still be accessible for gameplay. Bots will also be introduced for players who prefer solo play or have a smaller group to ensure an enjoyable experience.

The decision to implement seasonal rotation for Exoprimal has raised questions and sparked discussions among players. Given that the game was launched less than a year ago, some may find the sudden halt of new seasonal content surprising. The competitive landscape of live service games and the high expectations from players may have played a role in the game’s performance.

Unique Position and Challenges

One notable factor that may have impacted Exoprimal’s reception is its departure from the popular Dino Crisis franchise. Fans had long awaited a new Dino Crisis game from Capcom, and Exoprimal did not fulfill that expectation, leading to some disappointment. The tough competition in the live service market further added to the challenges faced by Exoprimal.

The transition to a seasonal rotation mode for Exoprimal marks a significant shift in the game’s approach to content delivery. Despite the changes and challenges, Capcom remains committed to supporting the game and providing an enjoyable experience for players. As the new seasonal cycles take effect, players can look forward to revisiting past seasons and continuing their progression in the world of Exoprimal.
