The latest chapter in Dead by Daylight introduces a new killer inspired by Dungeons & Dragons, Vecna. This character is a long-running mega-baddie who serves as the inspiration for the villain in Stranger Things. Voiced by Critical Role dungeon master Matthew Mercer, Vecna will haunt a new dungeon map in the game. Players will have the opportunity to battle as new elf and bard survivors, who can even roll a literal d20 when opening treasure chests.

Vecna, the D&D-inspired killer, is equipped with four spells that players can utilize in the game. These spells include the power to fly, shoot projectiles, manipulate objects using Mage Hand, and reveal survivors with a Dispelling Sphere. Additionally, players can find Vecna’s Hand and Eye in treasure chests scattered around the new Forgotten Ruins map. These magical items provide survivors with the ability to move silently or teleport between lockers. Upon opening treasure chests, players will roll a d20 to determine their findings, with a nat 20 granting powerful gear from Vecna.

Introduction of The Troupe Survivors

The new survivors in Dead by Daylight’s D&D chapter are The Troupe, consisting of Baermar Uraz and Aestri Yazar. These characters, a human and an elf bard, have unique abilities such as creating illusions, casting Bardic Inspiration to boost generator fixing speed, and spotting nearby items with Still Sight. The inclusion of these survivors adds depth to the gameplay and offers players new strategies to explore.

Upcoming Content and Game Modes

In addition to the D&D-inspired chapter, Behaviour Interactive has teased an upcoming chapter inspired by Castlevania, set to be released later in the summer. The game will also introduce a new supersized casual mode that pits two killers against eight survivors. Instead of being hooked, survivors will be caged in this mode, with perks disabled and replaced by a class system. More details regarding this mode will be revealed in July, with an early form set to launch later in the summer.

During the stream, Behaviour Interactive showcased Supermassive’s narrative spin-off, The Casting of Frank Stone, and teased an Insider Programme for a PvE game codenamed Project T. Additionally, a new DBD spin-off titled What the Fog was introduced. This two-player co-op roguelite is set inside a Jumanji-like cursed board game and is currently available at an affordable price.

Overall, the new Dungeons & Dragons-inspired content in Dead by Daylight offers players an exciting and immersive gameplay experience. With the introduction of Vecna as the next killer, along with The Troupe survivors and upcoming game modes, there is plenty for fans of the game to look forward to in the coming months. Stay tuned for more updates and announcements from Behaviour Interactive as they continue to expand the world of Dead by Daylight.
