Google Meet, a popular video conferencing platform, is now offering users the ability to enhance their appearance with new filters. These filters are designed to subtly touch up your complexion before you join a meeting, giving you a more polished look without the need for extensive editing.
There are two filter options to choose from: subtle and smoothing. The subtle filter applies “very light” complexion smoothing, under-eye lightening, and eye whitening, while the smoothing filter enhances these effects slightly. Unlike some filters on platforms like Snapchat, these filters are designed to provide a natural and minimal enhancement to your appearance.
To access the new touch-up options, users can select the Apply visual effects setting in Google Meet and choose Appearance. From there, they can toggle Portrait touch-up on or off and select their preferred filter. These filters are now available on the Google Meet web app, expanding on the feature that was initially launched on mobile devices last year.
Availability
The portrait touch-up feature is rolling out to paid users on specific plans, including Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, Teaching & Learning Upgrade. Subscribers to Google One and Google Workspace Individual plans will also have access to the new filters. This move comes after competitors like Zoom and Microsoft Teams have already introduced similar features for video calls.
Final Thoughts
While Google may have been a bit late to the game with implementing face filters for video calls, the introduction of these new touch-up options demonstrates the platform’s commitment to providing users with tools to enhance their virtual meetings. By offering subtle and natural-looking filters, Google Meet aims to help users look their best without the need for extensive editing or dramatic alterations to their appearance.
