Penny’s Big Breakaway, a 3D platformer developed by Evening Star, recently received an update on its PC version which has now been implemented on the Nintendo Switch as well. This update introduces new performance and quality mode options for players on the Nintendo Switch, courtesy of developer Christian Whitehead.

According to Whitehead, the performance mode on the Switch will offer a smoother gameplay experience by providing 60fps in most parts of the game when docked, with a decent fps count even in handheld mode. However, there may be some drops in fps in areas with high geometric density, such as in the VanillaTown level.

For players who prioritize a consistent experience over high fps, the quality mode will maintain a 30fps lock, similar to the previous version, but with the addition of anti-aliasing for improved visual quality.

The upcoming console update, which unlocks the frame rate on the Switch version of Penny’s Big Breakaway, is currently awaiting “first party approvals” before it can be rolled out to players. Once approved, players will have the option to choose between 30FPS and 60FPS, providing more flexibility in their gameplay experience.

While waiting for the console update to go live, players can take a look at the latest PC patch notes to get an idea of what to expect. The patch includes fixes for various issues with Penny and YoYo, as well as improvements and repairs to existing functions in the game. One notable fix is the removal of a bug on level 4-2 that allowed players to skip a large portion of the level.

In addition to addressing gameplay issues, the patch also includes character-specific improvements. Penny will no longer encounter issues like getting stuck on wall ledges, falling infinitely to her death, or losing momentum during YoYo rides. YoYo has also received enhancements such as more accurate wall throws and improved acceleration while swinging.

The denizens of the Penny’s Big Breakaway world have been asked to make repairs and upgrades to enhance the overall gameplay experience. These repairs and upgrades aim to create a more seamless and enjoyable gaming environment for players.

Overall, the upcoming console update for Penny’s Big Breakaway is set to provide players with a more optimized and polished gaming experience on the Nintendo Switch. With improved performance and visual quality options, players can look forward to a smoother and more enjoyable platforming adventure in Penny’s world.
