The Rimac Nevera R, an upgraded version of the original Nevera EV, is making waves in the world of electric supercars. According to Rimac, this new iteration of the electric vehicle can go from 0 to 60mph in just 1.74 seconds, which is a tenth of a second faster than its predecessor. With 2,107 horsepower under the hood, the Nevera R boasts an extra 200 horsepower compared to the original. In addition to the increased power, Rimac claims that the Nevera R has improved aerodynamics, more downforce, and better grip.
Performance Improvements
One of the most impressive upgrades on the Rimac Nevera R is its lap time on the Nardo Ring. The high-speed Italian track, owned by Porsche, saw the Nevera R shave off 3.8 seconds from the original Nevera’s lap time. This improvement is a testament to the enhanced performance capabilities of the new electric supercar. However, it is essential to note that the Nevera R requires “manufacturer oversight” to unlock its top speed of 256mph. Without this oversight, the car is limited to 217mph.
Rimac anticipates that the Nevera R’s 108kWh battery will provide a range of around 250 miles under the European WLTP cycle. While this range is impressive for a vehicle with such immense power, it is essential to remember that the battery’s certification has not been finalized. Despite the technological advancements in the Nevera R, potential buyers may find it challenging to get their hands on one. Instead, Rimac suggests looking forward to their upcoming Croatian robotaxis as a more accessible option.
The Rimac Nevera R represents a significant leap forward in the world of electric supercars. With its lightning-fast acceleration, increased horsepower, enhanced aerodynamics, and improved lap times, the Nevera R is setting new standards for electric vehicle performance. However, with great power comes great responsibility, as potential buyers may face challenges in acquiring this high-performance machine. As Rimac continues to push the boundaries of electric vehicle technology, the future looks exciting for the world of sustainable and high-performance transportation.
