The tech world was abuzz recently with the news of Nvidia’s DLSS upscaling and AMD’s frame generation technology finally being compatible on the same GPU at the same time. This unexpected development has shaken up the industry and left many tech enthusiasts scratching their heads in disbelief.

The combination of Nvidia’s DLSS upscaling and AMD’s frame generation technology seems like an unlikely pairing, with both companies traditionally being competitors in the GPU market. Nvidia’s focus on AI technology and its use of Tensor cores and Optical Flow accelerators have been significant selling points for their latest RTX 40-series GPUs. Meanwhile, AMD’s frame generation is known for its simplicity and ability to run on a variety of GPUs, including Nvidia cards.

The first game to showcase this groundbreaking combo is Ghost of Tsushima, a title originally released on the Playstation 4 and recently made available on PC. AMD’s decision to decouple frame generation from upscaling has opened up a world of possibilities for gamers. While Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is rumored to be receiving a patch enabling this compatibility, the potential for other games to follow suit is high. This move by AMD has presented a compelling proposition for GPU owners, especially those with older RTX 20 and 30-series GPUs.

The ability to use both DLSS upscaling from Nvidia and frame generation from AMD on the same GPU marks a significant milestone in the tech world.
