Sega Plans to Delist Original Sonic Generations in Anticipation of Remaster Release

In a move that has become all too common in the video game industry, Sega has announced its plans to delist the original Sonic Generations before the release of a remaster titled Sonic x Shadow Generations. Despite this decision, the company has reassured fans that the original version of Sonic Generations will not be gone for good. Sega intends to remove the standalone version of Sonic Generations on September 9 but will continue to offer the game through bundles on Stream and Xbox.

Existing owners of Sonic Generations will still have access to the game, as they will be able to download and play it even after it is delisted as a standalone title. Additionally, Sega has confirmed that mods on the Steam version of the game will not be affected by this change. This news comes as a relief to fans who have put time and effort into customizing their gameplay experience with mods.

For those who prefer physical copies of games, Sonic Generations for Xbox 360 is still an option. The game is backwards compatible on Xbox One and Xbox Series X, making it accessible to a wider audience. Amazon is currently selling new copies of Sonic Generations for Xbox 360 at a reasonable price of $23, which is a great deal considering the game’s impending delisting.

In addition to the remaster of Sonic Generations, Sega will be releasing a new title called Shadow Generations as part of Sonic x Shadow Generations. The two games will be interconnected, taking place concurrently to provide players with a fresh and exciting gaming experience. Sonic x Shadow Generations is set to be released on various gaming platforms, including Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC on October 25th.
