Rumors have been circulating in the tech world about the sudden departure of Twitter founder Jack Dorsey from the board of Bluesky, the decentralized social media platform he helped create. The news came to light when a user on X directly asked Dorsey about his current status on the company’s board, to which he simply replied, “no.”
While there is no concrete evidence to support Dorsey’s departure from Bluesky, his recent actions have raised eyebrows within the tech community. Dorsey’s decision to unfollow all but three accounts on X, and his endorsement of Elon Musk’s platform as “freedom technology,” have added fuel to the speculations surrounding his involvement with Bluesky.
Bluesky was originally backed by Dorsey in 2019 as a project aimed at developing an open-source social media standard. The idea was for Twitter to eventually transition to this new standard. However, in 2022, Bluesky broke away from Twitter, and Dorsey joined the board of directors. In a previous interview, CEO Jay Graeber mentioned that Dorsey provides feedback occasionally but mostly remains distant from the day-to-day operations. This lack of engagement was further highlighted when Dorsey closed his Bluesky account months before the recent developments.

Without a clear explanation from Dorsey himself, the tech community is left to speculate on the reasons behind this surprising turn of events.
