Nintendo has announced that a sequel to the highly successful Super Mario Bros. Movie is currently in development. This follow-up movie, set to be released on April 3rd, 2026, promises to continue the story and expand on the world established in the first film. The new movie is being storyboarded by Illumination Studios Paris, with Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic returning as the directors.
Live-Action Legend of Zelda Film also in the Works
In addition to the Super Mario Bros. sequel, Nintendo has also confirmed the development of a live-action Legend of Zelda film. Directed by Wes Ball and produced by Avi Arad and Shigeru Miyamoto, this movie is sure to be a highly anticipated release for fans of the popular video game franchise. Additionally, on March 12th, the Nintendo Switch Online Game Boy collection will be expanded to include Dr. Mario.
