Microsoft’s Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has made it clear that Xbox Game Pass will not be coming to PlayStation or Nintendo anytime soon. This statement comes in response to Xbox CFO Tim Stuart’s recent comment about bringing Game Pass to every screen capable of playing games, including PlayStation and Nintendo. The discrepancy here lies in the differentiation between a “plan” and a “mission.” While Microsoft may have a “mission” to expand Game Pass to various platforms, it does not currently have a concrete “plan” to do so.

Spencer stated, “I’ll start by saying we have no plans to bring Game Pass to PlayStation or Nintendo. It’s not in our plans.” He emphasized the importance of focusing on innovation for Xbox hardware platform users and ensuring their satisfaction with the existing investments in Xbox. While he acknowledged that Game Pass will continue to grow and play a crucial role in the Xbox console identity, he also highlighted its presence on PC and in the cloud.

In the first half of December, the Game Pass catalog expanded with a dozen new titles, providing even more value to Core subscribers.
