In the upcoming Superman reboot, director James Gunn has chosen to pay tribute to the late Christopher Reeve by including his son, Will Reeve, in a cameo role. Will Reeve, who is a real-life reporter for ABC, will portray a TV reporter in the movie. This nod to Christopher Reeve’s iconic portrayal of Superman adds a meaningful connection to the franchise’s history.

The inclusion of former actors from the Superman franchise in cameo roles is a tradition that was established in the first Superman movie. Kirk Alyn and Noel Neill, who previously portrayed Superman and Lois Lane, made cameo appearances as Lois Lane’s parents. Christopher Reeve continued this tradition by making guest appearances on the TV show Smallville after his tragic accident in 1995.

Despite Christopher Reeve’s passing in 2004, his legacy continues to have an impact on the Superman franchise. The upcoming documentary, Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, will shed light on his life and contributions to the superhero genre. Warner Bros. is set to distribute the film with the support of Will Reeve and the rest of the Reeve family.

A New Chapter

James Gunn’s Superman reboot is set to hit theaters on July 11, bringing a fresh take on the iconic superhero. With nods to the past and a focus on honoring Christopher Reeve’s legacy, this new film promises to captivate audiences and celebrate the enduring influence of Superman. Will Reeve’s cameo appearance adds a personal touch to the movie, connecting the past to the present in a meaningful way.
