Kia has officially unveiled the finalized version of its EV3 small electric SUV, featuring a groundbreaking new feature: AI technology. This innovative vehicle, which was originally introduced as a futuristic concept last year, is set to launch in South Korea this July, followed by Europe later in the year. While a US release has been confirmed, the timing has not yet been announced.
The Kia EV3 will be the first production electric vehicle to come equipped with Kia’s voice-activated AI assistant. This AI assistant, based on ChatGPT technology, has been modified to allow users to plan trips, find entertainment, and more. It will initially launch in Korea before making its way to Europe. The EV3 boasts an estimated driving range of 600km (approximately 373 miles) based on the European WLTP system, although the US EPA estimate may differ due to variations in testing standards.
Equipped with an 81.4kWh battery in the long-range model, the EV3 can accelerate from zero to 100km in just 7.5 seconds. The powertrain is built on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, ensuring a smooth and efficient driving experience. Inside the car, drivers will find a sleek and modern interface, with two 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment, a five-inch panel for HVAC controls, and a 12-inch heads-up display. The inclusion of premium streaming apps and customizable dashboard themes adds a touch of luxury to the driving experience.
Inspired by the design of the larger Kia EV9, the EV3 offers a spacious interior that can accommodate up to five passengers comfortably. The layout is designed to provide ample storage space for personal items, with features such as a sliding table for laptops and a 25-liter frunk for additional storage. Overall, the EV3 combines practicality with cutting-edge technology to deliver a truly unique driving experience.
