Disney Speedstorm, a popular kart-racing game developed by Gameloft, has gained a loyal following due to its engaging gameplay mechanics. However, the game has been plagued by a convoluted and confusing progression system that has frustrated many players.
The current upgrade system in Disney Speedstorm is overly complicated, with each collection or franchise requiring its own specialized upgrade materials. Players must collect a wide range of materials, such as Energy Cans, Racing Helmets, Hercules Action Figures, and Scream Canisters, among others. With nearly 80 unique upgrade materials to keep track of, it is easy for players to end up with materials they don’t need or want, causing frustration and confusion.
Gameloft has announced that Season 7 of Disney Speedstorm will introduce a new, single upgrade currency called Upgrade Coins. This new currency will streamline the upgrade process, allowing players to clearly see how much each upgrade level will cost. Additionally, all current upgrade materials will be converted to the new currency, making it easier for players to progress and upgrade their favorite racers.
The overly complex progression system has been a major complaint among players since the game’s early-access period. Many players suspected that the confusing system was designed to encourage real-money spending, but even then, it was unclear what players should spend money on. The update to introduce Upgrade Coins is a step in the right direction, but it may not solve all the issues related to unlocking new racers.
Season 7 of Disney Speedstorm is set to start in April, bringing with it a new expansion. While Gameloft has not yet shared the theme of the new expansion, past seasons have typically added one new themed track and four new Disney racers. The current season, Under the Sea, features characters like Ariel, Prince Eric, King Triton, and Ursula.
The overcomplicated progression system in Disney Speedstorm has been a source of frustration for many players. The introduction of Upgrade Coins in Season 7 is a positive step towards simplifying the upgrade process and addressing player concerns. While there is still work to be done in terms of unlocking new racers and improving overall player experience, the upcoming changes are a promising development for the future of the game. Players can look forward to a more streamlined and enjoyable gameplay experience in the upcoming season.
