Final Fantasy 16 is set to release its final DLC, The Rising Tide, on April 18th exclusively on the PS5. This highly anticipated expansion takes players on a new adventure before the conclusion of the main game, introducing new characters, locations, and challenges.
The Rising Tide DLC begins with Clive and his companions receiving an urgent letter at their hideaway, informing them that the Dominant of Leviathan is in danger and in need of rescue. This leads the group to Mysidia, a mysterious land hidden under a blue sky, where they delve into the tragic history of a forgotten people.
New Challenges and Enemies
In Mysidia, players will encounter new side quests that unravel the lore of the region and its inhabitants. Additionally, they will face new threats, including a revamped version of the tonberries, a classic enemy from the Final Fantasy series. The Aire of Hours stage, once a thriving city, now lies in ruins, infested with these eerie creatures.
The DLC introduces Clive to the powers of the Eikon of Water, allowing him to unleash devastating attacks using the sea tides. The level cap is also raised to 60 in Story Focused Mode and Action Focused Mode, and to level 110 in Final Fantasy Mode, providing players with more challenges and opportunities for growth.
Discovering New Abilities
Players can use Clive’s new water-based abilities to drown enemies both up close and from a distance. The Serpent’s Cry Eikonic Feat summons a powerful sea serpent to deliver precise strikes to foes. The trailer showcases the stunning visuals and dynamic gameplay of the Eikon’s powers.
Kairos Gate Survival Mode
After completing The Rising Tide and the main game, players can unlock Kairos Gate, a survival mode that pits them against 20 increasingly difficult wave-based stages in the underworld. By conquering these challenges, players can earn valuable loot, including materials and weapons, and compete for top rankings on the global leaderboard.
