Crow Country, a forthcoming survival horror indie game, is set to launch on May 9 for PS5 and PC. Drawing inspiration from classic PS1 titles such as Silent Hill and Resident Evil, with a hint of the aesthetic found in classic Final Fantasy games, Crow Country promises a truly unique gaming experience. What sets this game apart is its ability to take inspiration from established classics and create something that feels both familiar and innovative at the same time.

What makes Crow Country even more intriguing is the fact that it is developed by the same team behind the popular paper-cutting co-op game Snipperclips. SFB Games has come a long way, transitioning from quirky co-op games to well-received mobile puzzle games and even branching out into the murder mystery genre with titles like Tangle Tower. The shift to creating a survival horror game may seem like a departure for the studio, but creative director Adam Vian believes that there are underlying similarities between Crow Country and their previous titles, particularly Tangle Tower.

Set in an eerie abandoned theme park in 1990, Crow Country revolves around the mysterious disappearance of Edward Crow, the owner of the theme park. Two years after Crow’s vanishing act and the subsequent shutdown of the park, players will unravel the dark secrets that lurk within the park’s confines. The narrative is driven by exploration, puzzle-solving, and unlocking hidden rooms, all while evading the hostile entities that roam the park. With an exploration mode that allows players to focus on unraveling the mystery without the fear of being attacked, Crow Country offers a gripping and foreboding experience.

Having had the opportunity to play the Steam demo, I can attest to the captivating nature of Crow Country’s storyline. The balance between mystery and suspense keeps players on edge, eager to delve deeper into the dark secrets of the abandoned theme park. The innovative approach to survival horror gameplay, combined with the hauntingly atmospheric setting, sets Crow Country apart from other indie horror games. As the release date approaches, the anticipation for Crow Country continues to grow, promising an immersive and chilling experience for players looking for a unique horror adventure.
