Warning from Arrowhead Studios: Beware of Fake Games

Arrowhead Studios recently issued a warning to players about the existence of fake versions of their popular co-op game Helldivers 2. These fake versions have made their way onto the Steam platform, causing confusion and potential harm to unsuspecting gamers. The studio emphasized that these fake games are not affiliated with Arrowhead Studios in any way and urged players to exercise caution.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that the fake versions of Helldivers 2 on Steam were created by indie games Figularity and Do Not Smile. These developers changed the names of their games to Helldivers 2, replaced screenshots with images from the actual Helldivers game, and falsely listed Arrowhead Game Studios and PlayStation LLC as the developer and publisher, respectively. This deceptive tactic was aimed at tricking players into believing that these fake versions were legitimate.

Arrowhead Studios immediately took action by alerting their legal team to address the issue. As a result, two of the fake versions were promptly removed from the Steam storefront. The studio emphasized that the only genuine versions of Helldivers 2 are the original game and the Super Citizen Edition. Players were advised to verify the release date of the game to avoid falling victim to scams.

The incident involving fake versions of Helldivers 2 is not an isolated case. Copycats have targeted other popular games as well, including Palworld, Last Epoch, and Escape From Tarkov. This trend of imposters posing as legitimate developers and publishers poses a significant threat to the gaming community, as unsuspecting players may be lured into purchasing fake products.

Arrowhead Studios’ warning serves as a reminder to all players to be vigilant when purchasing games online.
